FAQs about COVID-19 and your Real Estate Education
At Jan Secor School of Real Estate, the safety of our students, instructors, and employees is a top priority. As we continue to closely observe the global concern over COVID-19, we are taking proactive measures to keep our students and community safe and to lessen the potential impact of the virus.
Given the circumstances around COVID-19 and the recent mandatory restrictions put in place by the state of North Carolina, Jan Secor School of Real Estate is suspending all classroom courses.
We are currently working with the commission and our instructors to determine options for resuming classroom learning. Below, you will find some important information about what this means for you:
How will my education be impacted?
Due to the recent recommendation from the NCREC, we will be suspending all in-classroom courses through June 30, 2020. We will provide support to reschedule your classes for a later time, once it is deemed safe to reconvene in a classroom setting.
According to the recent update at https://www.ncrec.gov/:
Are we able to take our classes online?
At this time, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission allows for courses to be conducted via synchronous learning online. This means, students and instructors are only separated by distance, not time. Classes will be taught via a live stream and students must “attend” the class during the scheduled time frame. It is NOT the same as an “at your own pace” class.
Right now, all courses that are scheduled through the end of June will be taught via synchronous learning. You can sign up and pay online as if you were attending the class in person. A few days before the class is to begin, you will receive a link to access the online class.

What if I’m unable to complete my CE and Post-Licensing courses within the required amount of time allocated due to illness?
CE Update and Elective courses: The Commission will grant an automatic 90-day extension to brokers who have not completed CE by June 10. No request form is needed.
Postlicensing courses: The Commission will grant an automatic extension through September 30, 2020, to brokers who have not completed Postlicensing. No request form is needed.
Please visit https://www.ncrec.gov/ for more information.
How do I reschedule my cancelled classes?
To reschedule a class, you can go to www.jansecor.com for calendar availability in May and June, or you can email us at JanSecor.Office@gmail.com to reschedule your class(es).
Do I have to pay to reschedule my class?
No, we will accommodate your course change free of charge for any courses that are suspended and/or cancelled due to the restrictions applied around COVID-19.
Can I get a refund if there are no classes available that fit my schedule?
We will take a look at our refund policy at the end of March. We plan to offer plenty of alternatives so that, hopefully, we can place the student in a suitable course. If there is not a course that the student can transfer into, and if necessary, of course, we will consider it.
